Back at Interbike we made friends with a German designer named Dirk. He’s got a pretty wide resume ranging from the Ergon grips currently on Matt’s city bike to this crazy, only-a-German-could-make-it 18 speed internal gearbox called Pinion.
After a long night/early morning at Stevil Kinevil’s annual Interbike soiree, one thing lead to another and Dirk was deemed worthy (i.e. he fit into one of our samples) of being the first person in all of Europe to rock a pair of our Cordura jeans.
Over the holidays Dirk dropped us a note to say hi and shared a few shots of his super commuter that made our jaws drop. This thing is so cool we don’t even know where to begin.

Dirk designed it himself and Nicolai made it happen. The frame is made from Easton elite aluminum with track geometry and an extra beefy front end thanks to the 1 1/2″ – 1 1/4″ head tube. It features a Gates Carbon belt drive and since it’s a single speed a Magura disc brake takes care of the stopping. We’ll go out on a limb and say it’s a pretty sweet skid machine.

Dirk says his “Uniquolai” is a one-of-a-kind bike (as if he really needed to add that part).
Since we’re as geeky as you when it comes to bikes, we’re always curious to see what folks are riding. If you’ve got a favorite bike you’d like to share with our little corner of the internet drop us a note and we’ll show it off.

the 8 riders who battled Paris-Roubaix on their fixies
On April 10, 2010 Pedro (second from left) and 7 other riders took on the cobblestones of Paris-Roubaix on their fixies.
Pedro was kitted out in swrve jeans and baselayer, and as he says:
…your jeans and baselayer have also made history.
I was the fist guy to complete the 270 kms with a swrve jeans. and you know what? they passed the test!
we commend these crazy blokes for their epic ride.

got a note from Jon in MSP:
… I need to thank you guys for making the schoeller winter pant. I used them pretty much every day commuting and weekend riding in Minneapolis this winter. One of the best cycling purchases I have ever made.
I almost miss the cold and snow….
Thanks again,
Jon

got this e-mail this morning. don’t try this at home. results may vary.
I just had a near death experience yesterday and my swrve pants saved my hide.
Me and a buddy set out to do some snow shoeing at the Indiana dunes State Park which is situated on the coast of Lake Michigan in Northwest Indiana. Like fools we ignored the shelf ice warning and went to take a look at the lake. The ice yawned open and I plunged into the water and miraculously clawed my way out of the hole . Soaked and bruised I apologized to my friend thinking we would have to return to the train station. Then I realized, strangely, I actually didn’t feel that cold and tried some romping in the snow, this time away from the ice in the interior of the park. I stayed outside for four hours, the pants having dried, and had a great day away from Chicago in nature. Thanks swrve, you were my life preserver!
cheers,
Jonathan
